The Tom Binns and Gabrielecorto Moltedo collaboration has led to the creation of the Sunday Best clutch bag, which will be available in either gold or silver in selected boutiques this Winter.

The Sunday Best has been created from the Corto Moltedo classic ‘Susan’ clutch in black nappa leather, which Binns has embellished with rows of Jesuses and crosses customised from his Love of God collection.

"Statement Jewellery" traditionally refers to the wearing of jewellery to convey a message. Typically these are pieces that will be remembered; those which stand out rather than just complement a look and express something about the attitude, life style or point of view of the wearer such as status, wealth, or beauty.

Tom Binns, best known for trashing tradition with his irreverent tongue in cheek jewellery designs, has presented his own take statement jewellery with the Tough Talk collection. Unveiled in Paris for Spring Summer 2012 the Tough Talk pieces combine elegance with the usual Tom Binns anti-conformist sentiment. Decadently arranged crystal necklaces and bracelets are emblazoned with the words Punk, Rocker and Nice Necklace, in vibrant neon colours.

The Punk necklace first appeared in Vogue’s Fashion Rocks supplement in 2007, rebelliously adorned by Bille Holiday (Bruce Weber’s beloved black Labrador pit bull mix). However next season is the first time it will be available to buy from the Tom Binns Megastore !

On Tuesday 20th September 2011, Tom Binns brings his luxury attitude to Joyce.com, which will unveil a capsule collection offering pieces from the iconic Punk Chic and Slap Dash collections in limited edition neon colours.

Jewellery is traditionally regarded as delicate, precious, and synonymous with royalty, status and wealth. However these five unique pieces form part of Tom’s lifelong theme of trashing tradition and combine elegance with anti-conformist sentiment.

Tom Binns and Jason Wu

LA based jewellery designer Tom Binns has designed a selection of earrings for Jason Wu’s NY Fashion Week presentation. The pair decided to combine their opposing, yet complimentary aesthetics for Spring Summer 2012. "It’s the idea of giving refinement a bit of quirk," says Jason Wu.

The collection includes long waterfall drop-chain earrings embellished with pearls, crystals, safety pins, and zips. "It’s like fine jewellery infused with a modern attitude," says Binns. The pieces were modernised and adapted specifically to compliment Jason Wu’s aesthetic whilst staying true to Tom Binns’ own Tough Chic style: "I liked the idea of working with a designer with a youthful attitude," says Binns, "because the trick to staying relevant is to stay contemporary."

“It is Now” An Exhibition by Tom Binns

For Art Hong Kong 2011, designer and artist Tom Binns announced a four-way collaboration with On Pedder, JOYCE and Madhouse Contemporary gallery for his first ever exhibition in Asia.

Under the curation of Madhouse Contemporary, JOYCE’s main window was transformed into the “It is Now” exhibition with a display of Tom Binns’ Dadaism inspired works covering over 30 years of art practice, including pieces featured  in his books Incite 2009 & Incite 2010. On May 27th, the doors opened to art enthusiasts for a special preview of the exhibition and a rare opportunity to meet the artist. "I am thrilled to be able to present my recent work for the first time in Hong Kong with On Pedder who have graciously allowed me to have this opportunity”, states the artist. “It's going to be far out in the Far East!"

Beside the art exhibition on the ground floor there was a showcase of art pieces from Tom Binns’ Maasai Future Fantastic Fluo collection, inspired by African tribes, together with a preview of his Autumn Winter 2011 collections.

As well as the Sonic Sonnets collection, featuring the most innovative art pieces  in neon colours that draw inspiration from bioluminescent sea creatures, a Black Room concept, gave the audience the experience of being inside an aquarium, presenting the viewers with a profound visual experience beyond the artist’s craftsmanship and imagery.

These pieces are physical poems. These are the ingredients of my inspiration…

Undisciplined dexterity accompanies the dialogue of hands. Daring to create the intrusion of memory with the facilities of truth, abilities of necessity, and humility of manners. Not forgetting the humour of being, the contradiction of sense, and the irritation at ambition and ignorance. An outburst of colour slaps sensibility. The need to create and the vocabulary of innocence.

Approval towards the preciousness of disregard. Dread is a silence of no one, just because. The thinking of a lifetime constructed in adornment. In defence of compromise. The nuance of coincidence, the choice of truths that defy the eye. The imaginable sum of all my unnamable predecessors. Solid truth dissolves as an articulate heart meanders. Possibilities of imagination, struggling with ideals, the solution that sounds familiar. A moment of forever in constant flow, you seep to the bone. The argument for certainty in a world of constant change. The authority of hopelessness and standard neglect. Balance of the contradiction of contempt, channelled into the anger at mediocrity. Constant coincidence. The talk of silence deafens, definitely. The vanity of ignorance, the solitude of learning, an absolutely necessary object. A heartfelt toughly touches.
